I'm about to get started filming super 8 (raided an attic for a projector, editor, Sankyo LXL-225, and a Bell & Howell 2124 XL this weekend) and I wanted to make sure I was on the right track before I go spending what little money I have:
* Was planning on shooting Kodachrome 40 bought direct through Kodak and processing it through Fuji at Wal-Mart -- good idea? I'd like to shoot B/W too, but this seems easier and cheaper to start out with... unless there are labs in central Illinois or home developing is particularly easy for B/W.
* Anyone have any tips for either of those cameras? Particularly anything that'd help with doing in-camera dissolves and superpositions -- I imagine I'll transfer whatever I do to DV for minor editing, but the bulk of editing will be splicing on the editor and it'd be cool to have some effects available to me. In-camera edits just look better, anyway.
* Any cheap place to find 80-watt Halogen projector bulbs (type ENA)? I found some for $22 shipped or so, but I was wondering if anyone knew of anything better.
* Cement splicing... do I really need some sort of machine for this?
